My first record
IN 1954, I GOT a brand-new record player for my seventh birthday. It played only 78 rpm records, and I eagerly unwrapped the second present, expecting it to be a record. Since my father was a doctor, he frequently received free gifts from pharmaceutical companies. My second present was a shiny red 78 rpm record from one of those companies and just perfect for my new record player.
