We publish 5 days a week, Monday through Friday by 9 am. Weekend news content
is posted by 10 am. Classified advertising is updated, available,
and searchable seven days a week. National and international news is also
available seven days a week via AP WIRE feeds from our Web site.
Caching: Most browsers cache documents so that
when you want to return to a given page your computer doesn't have
to go back out over the Internet and download the page all over
again. That's all very well and good for pages that don't change
very often, but for any online newspaper like the Monitor which
changes daily, you may find yourself drawing on obsolete pages from
your cache. A simple reload or refresh will usually do the trick
for a particular page of information. You can also clear out your
entire cache on a regular basis. If you haven't done this before,
you may find that it clears up a lot of other strange troubles you've
been having. One drawback of doing this too often is that frequently
used graphics have to be re-downloaded when your browser encounters
them again on a page, thereby slowing down your session.
Technical requirements: Most web browsers will
suffice to access Monitor Online. We recommend using browsers no
older than Netscape 6 or Internet Explorer 6 in order to take full
use of the service. Older browsers may not work well on this site.
A DSL connection or faster is suggested when using this site. AOL and WebTV users may
experience bottlenecks that are out of our control - download times
may therefore be longer than usual. Like most sites built today,
this site assumes a screen width of 800 pixels. Consult your operating
system guide to learn how to 'increase' the display size of your
screen if images or text appear off screen.
Tips on navigating the service and using searches:
Monitor Online is rigorously cross-linked, so the information you
need should never be more than a couple of clicks away. We also
offer a search tool suitable for scanning through the site. A global
search function lets you spell out exactly what you're looking for
anywhere on Monitor Online.
Searching tips: We have a search engine that should
provide you with the search tools you require. The search engine
has a simple word or phrase search capability which and be used in combination with the following qualifying words: "and, not, near, or." You can also use the "*" wildcard character to search for partial words. Searching for "foo*" will return foot, football and all other words starting with "foo."
Getting help: Someone will be available to help
you from 9 a.m. Eastern time to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. E-mail
queries are preferred and will be responded to in 24 hours. Weekend
messages will be responded to on the following Monday. Contact us
at cmwebmaster@concordmonitor.com.
You can also reach us by telephone at 603-224-5301 x345. If we are
not available, please leave a voice message and someone will get
back to you as soon as possible.
Offering feedback: Your comments on this service
- what's good and what can be improved - are warmly welcomed. Please
e-mail us at cmwebmaster@concordmonitor.com.
