Re "Education speech raises fear" (Monitor front page, Sept. 4):
Your top-of-the-fold article reported that the president's live speech was seen as a chance for Obama "to motivate students to work hard, set goals and take responsibility for their education." The paragraph concludes that critics see the speech as "an attempt at indoctrinating children with liberal ideology."
Let's see if I have that correct then: The Obama critics are advocating that American students goof off, wander aimlessly and take absolutely no responsibility for their education?
So much for the "American way!"
