An 18-year-old girl has been hospitalized with serious head injuries after being hit by a car while walking in Penacook yesterday afternoon.
The police have not released the name of the pedestrian, who is from Penacook, or the 70-year-old female driver from Concord. No charges have been brought, but the accident is under investigation.
The victim was hit near Village and Stark streets at 2:43 p.m., Deputy Police Chief John Duval said yesterday evening. He said the police are still investigating where the teenager was when she was struck by the car.
Duval said the 18-year-old was unconscious when the police arrived. He also said yesterday evening that it was too early to know what factors, if any, contributed to the crash.
The police closed the road near the accident scene for much of the afternoon and called in the accident reconstruction team to investigate.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the police at 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline, where tips can be left anonymously at 226-3100 or concordregionalcrimeline.com.
