MELBOURNE, Australia - Andy Roddick, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Milos Raonic lost their opening matches yesterday at the Kooyong Classic, a tuneup for next week's Australian Open.

Roddick fell, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3), to Frenchman Gael Monfils in cold, blustery conditions.

Tsonga was ousted, 6-4, 6-3, by Austria's Jurgen Melzer. Tsonga was coming off a victory over Monfils in the Qatar Open final Saturday.

Raonic didn't drop a service game en route to winning the Chennai title, but lost, 6-1, 6-2, to Mardy Fish, who had some mixed performances as part of the U.S. team at the Hopman Cup last week.

Australian teenager Bernard Tomic beat No. 7-ranked Tomas Berdych, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Rogers: I was 'like the Hulk' in hotel

NEW YORK - A professional skateboarder who tore paintings off the walls of a New York City hotel is blaming his bizarre, naked ruckus on drinking and what he thought were anti-hangover pills.

Jereme Rogers said yesterday he wasn't himself - and was "something like the Hulk" - during last week's rampage at the Affinia Shelburne hotel in Manhattan.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge. His case will be closed without further jail time or probation if he pays $2,850 in restitution.

The athlete says a woman he met at a bar gave him the pills.

Rogers retired from skateboarding in 2009 to become a rap artist, but made a comeback the next year. He says he's skating "better than ever."
