LETTER
It's just not true
'Raymond Mercier, Concord'
Much is being said this election about lowering the taxes of the 'job creators' to get the economy going forward. I work at one of the largest manufacturers in New Hampshire, and I can tell you that is a lie.
We have had consecutively the three best profit years ever, and we are not creating new jobs. In fact, we are looking for ways to cut jobs. Why? Because investors expect big returns on their investment.
If they do not get large returns, they move their money to where they will get more money. To maximize profit, we cut jobs by automating as much as possible.
The employees work longer hours with ever-shrinking benefits at a roughly 25 percent tax rate, and the investors 'let their money work for them' at a roughly 15 percent tax rate.
I don't put money in my 401k to create jobs, and you don't either. We want that money to grow as much as possible. Let's stop allowing the lie about tax relief for the 'job creators' to continue.
