Sophomore goalie Michael Matcheski saved 21 shots in his first varsity appearance for Winnisquam, but Belmont scored five first-half goals to earn the win in the season opener for both teams.
Austin Wilder scored two unassisted goals to lead the Red Raiders in their impressive debut. Brendan Johnson scored the second goal of the game on an assist from Ashton Singh. Peter Chynoweth and Richie Perez each added unassisted goals as well. Kaleb Brace saved three shots in goal.
Junior midfielder Patrick Regan had a solid game for Winnisquam, playing with energy on both sides of the ball.
