Important talk

Last year Canterbury helped celebrate Earth Day by hosting a talk by sustainability expert Jim Merkel. This year Canterbury is continuing the tradition by inviting environmental activist Alex Lee to speak at the Canterbury Town Hall at 4 p.m. April 26.

Last year's talk was well attended, informative and highly entertaining. We have high hopes for this year's talk and would once again like to invite everyone, whether they live in Canterbury or not, to attend.

Alex is the founder of Project Laundry List, an organization devoted to encouraging people to save energy by hanging out their laundry instead of using dryers. Amazingly, this simple concept has been the subject of news stories around the world. Alex's work has been reported on by the New York Times, the Christian Science Monitor, the Wall Street Journal, the Sierra Club magazine, Time magazine, and Canadian, German, and Korean television.

Since graduating from Vermont Law School in 2001 Alex has worked on energy efficiency programs with the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission. He has been a consultant with the National Environmental Trust and worked on and run numerous political campaigns. His writing has been published in such places as the Northern Forest Forum, The Catholic Worker, and the Albany Law Environmental Outlook Journal.
