If Sarah Palin is considering a run for president, she hasn't told anyone in New Hampshire.
"I haven't heard of anything, and I haven't heard of anyone who's heard of anything," said Steve Duprey, an adviser to John McCain's presidential campaign who worked with Palin last year.
That same conclusion was voiced in interviews with more than a dozen Republican activists, strategists and elected officials. Many said there was plenty of interest in Palin, especially among grassroots conservatives. But neither Palin nor her emissaries seem to have made inroads in New Hampshire's Republican circles since last year's presidential campaign, where Palin was the GOP nominee for vice president.
Since announcing her intention to resign as Alaska governor earlier this month, Palin has been vague about her plans. She vowed to work for like-minded candidates and is slated to write a book. But she has not addressed speculation that she may run for president in 2012.
"With this decision, now, I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right, and for truth. And I have never felt that you need a title to do that," Palin said Sunday while formally stepping down as governor.
Whatever Palin ends up pursuing, there's little doubt she would draw a crowd in New Hampshire - if she showed up. Matt Mayberry, a Republican activist who is busy organizing the Strafford County Republican Picnic next month, said countless people have urged him to invite Palin.
"Everyone you talk to, she is their first choice," Mayberry said. "The interest level is so huge, both politically and personality-wise."
The problem is, Mayberry wouldn't know who to call if he thought Palin might consider an offer.
"I guess I would probably go through the Alaska Republican Party," said Mayberry, who served as a county chairman for McCain's presidential campaign and met Palin last year. "They've got to have some contact for her."
The next New Hampshire presidential primary is at least 2½ years away, and it would be unusual for any prospective candidate to set up a campaign apparatus this early. Given how well-known she is, Palin wouldn't have to spend much time introducing herself to voters if she does run. But some Republicans said they didn't know how to interpret her silence in New Hampshire. Is she biding her time, disorganized or just uninterested in running for president in three years?
"She has time," said Rep. Fran Wendleboe, a Republican from New Hampton. "First you get the book written, then you go on the stump and make the circuit, just when the book is published. But I don't think you'll see her doing any local stuff in New Hampshire or Iowa. I don't think she's there yet."
If Palin is considering a run for president, resigning as governor gives her more time to woo primary voters in places such as Manchester and Des Moines, Iowa, both long flights from Anchorage, Alaska. And Maureen Mooney, a Republican activist from Merrimack, said Palin confided a special fondness for the Granite State while traveling with her on a campaign bus from Laconia to Concord last autumn.
"She remarked that New Hampshire was a lot like Alaska, in both the landscape and in the electorate," Mooney said. "She was very impressed by that."
Still, all communication so far between Palin and the state GOP is flowing in one direction. Several conservative groups - including the New Hampshire Reagan Network and the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition - have invited Palin to speak at their gatherings. None has received a reply. Ann Marie Banfield, who founded Team Sarah New Hampshire, said she hopes Palin might be more accessible now that she doesn't have the responsibilities of serving as governor. Banfield said her organization, which is not officially affiliated with Palin, was waiting for signs from Palin herself.
"The door is open, and if she's willing to reach out, we'd certainly welcome her," Banfield said. "If she announces a candidacy, we have something in place to support her - if that happens." (next page »)

Too Far Right
By Scrupp - 07/28/2009 - 6:56 pmPalin represents the far right. Anyone on the extreme left or right won't win. Becoming President of the good old USA is all about compromise and meeting the left and right in the middle. You can be a bit more on one side or the other, when campaigning, but ultimatly you have to appeal to conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans.
Sarah is currently too far to the right and is preaching to the choir. She may get a whole bunch of votes but won't win.
I'd like to see a viable Republican candidate surface between now and 2012 to keep the Democrats and Obama in check. Palin, in her current form, is not that candidate. Had she shut up, remained Governor and got her self ready she may have had a shot but she continues to destroy any credibility she may have had among Independents.

By kenstcyr - 07/30/2009 - 6:19 amhttp://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0DXK/is_13_21/ai_n6169071/
"The relevant statistic is the "employment population ratio," a figure that measures what percentage of the total population in a certain age group has employment. When the CSC measured the employment population ratio in New York City in 2003, they found that only 51.8 percent of African American men between 16 and 65 held jobs. That means that nearly half of all African American men did not have jobs. By comparison, 75.7 percent of White men in New York held jobs that year, meaning that fewer than one in four of them did not hold jobs."
He also got 98% of the black vote.

By Chimp Refuge - 07/30/2009 - 6:58 amSo, you're telling me that:
1) because half of black people of *one* sex, in *one* city, don't have jobs, and
2) 98% of blacks who voted *nationwide*, of *both* sexes, voted for Obama,
the idea that people who voted for Obama were generally jobless is valid? Are you *really* saying that? Because I'm pretty sure you would need to find out how many of those blacks who actually voted were jobless blacks and not just assume that the same fraction of black voters are unemployed as blacks in the general population are unemployed. Furthermore, you would have to justify how you can look only at males in one urban area (and urban areas are notorious for low employment among minorities) and extrapolate your findings to men and women the nation over.
You do not understand basic math, Kenny. Not now, not ever. You won't understand the very simple explanation for why you are wrong I just gave you, either. You really should not comment anymore, as you are a farce.

Philosophy 101
By Chimp Refuge - 07/30/2009 - 1:20 amYou can't prove a negative such as "Obama is not a racist." Go ahead, Kenny, prove that Sarah Palin is *not* a crook, a philanderer, or a witch.
See, it is incumbent on anyone claiming he *is* a racist to supply evidence for that claim. It's an easy claim to sling around, often requiring the ability to read minds, and in this case is uniformly baseless. Since wingnuts have produced no such evidence, their charges are worthless, simply more noise borne of hate and resentment, like the "birther" crap.

well..in the case of Gates
By kenstcyr - 07/30/2009 - 8:31 pmHe thought he was being racially profiled because a white cop asked for his ID. Did he also think he was being profiled at the airport when asked to show his passport?
I think Kelly Anderson Wright
says it best. I quote (unlike Abe, and never a a word about Abe from you..wonder why?)
So why is President Obama a racist? Because he, like his friend Gates, automatically assumed the white police officer "acted stupidly." BO assumed it was the white officer's fault, because, of course, we all know white cops are racist, right? And later, when he slightly retracted his statement, he still felt the need to say, "It would have been better if cooler heads had prevailed." By now he knew the facts, that his friend Gates had lost his mind and acted like a fool, but he assumed that Sgt. Crowley similarly lost it and "got all up" in Gates' face, because, of course, that's what all white cops do.
But this white cop didn't, because he's not just any cop, he is an expert at managing racial incidents just like this one became, because of Gates' racism. Friends and fellow officers of all races say Sgt. James Crowley is calm and reliable in situations racially hostile situs, because he was hand-picked by a black police commissioner to teach recruits how to avoid racial profiling, and Crowley has apparently been doing a stellar job at it for 5 years.
But Gates and our esteemed president didn't know that, did they?
So, who are the racists in this story? Gates accused a decent, decorated, above-reproach police officer of being a racist rogue cop, just because he was white. What did our esteemed "black" president do? He immediately took Gates' side, because he's a friend and black! Um, Mr. President, I thought you were going to help erase the racial lines that divide us? Shame on you for taking sides on something you admitted you knew nothing about, for commenting nationally on a small, local issue well beneath your pay grade, and for showing us all that you are not that different that the racist Gates who believes all white cops are bad cops, just because of their skin color.

Anderson Wright's comment...
By Chimp Refuge - 07/30/2009 - 8:44 pm...that Obama's comment about stupidity was racially motivated is unfounded, and may itself be construed as racist. Obama jumped the gun with his assessment, but there's no reason to think he wasn't just talking in general about cops aresting some guy for breaking into his own house. He obviously did not even know the races of the cops involved, so how can anyone say he was condemning whites?
If Obama really had it in for Whitey, wouldn't there be at least something in his background to suggest it? Some comment he dropped back in the day that would have come out during the campaign? Real racists have long track records of *not* keeping their mouths shut about it.
Lastly, I have no idea why you expect me to comment on Honest Abe. Has he said something I should, in your view, be arguing with?

By Chimp Refuge - 08/01/2009 - 11:43 amDid you even watch the speech Obama gave?
He first described Gates being arrested for disorderly conduct in his own home despite showing his ID, noting that the Cambridge police, in behaving as they did, had "acted stupidly." He then said: "What I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionally."
See the phrase "separate and apart from this incident," Kenny? Do you need that explained to you?
When he mentioned racial profiling, of course he was talking about white cops. That's not in question and it's not "racist" or wrong to point out, either. But he was not talking about the Cambridge police.
