Hopkinton High's David Harrison and Kearsarge Regional's Marilyn Ferreira were named Player of the Year in their respective classes by the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization.

Both players will take part in the Granite State Games, featuring the top seniors in each class. The Class I vs. Class L games will be played Sunday at Southern NH University, with the girls at 3 p.m. and the boys at 4:30. The Class S vs. Class M games will be played Tuesday at Plymouth State, starting with the girls at 6, followed by the boys.

Signings confirmed

The New England Patriots will have a couple of new targets for Tom Brady next season.

Continuing the offseason spending spree that followed a loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC title game, the Patriots confirmed yesterday that they have signed free agent receivers Donte' Stallworth and Kelley Washington.

Washington caught 72 passes for 893 yards and nine touchdowns in four seasons with Cincinnati. The deal would reportedly pay him $22 million over five years, but a $4 million roster bonus due in 2008 could lead the Patriots to cut him loose after one season.

Stallworth agreed to a multiyear contract on Sunday. The Patriots also confirmed his signing yesterday.

Stallworth caught 38 passes for 725 yards and five touchdowns in 12 regular-season games during his only season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
