As a Marine who served 22 years of active duty, including two tours in Vietnam, I see Gov. Bill Richardson as the only Democratic presidential candidate with a real plan to get us out of Iraq and build peace in the region. While Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards couch their words in Washington speak, it is Bill Richardson who unequivocally proposes to get all of our troops out of Iraq.

The sooner we get out, the sooner the Iraqis can solve their own problems. The sooner we get out, the sooner the United States can become an honest broker in a regional peace process. Our military leadership has stated there is no military solution.

Why is our military still there? Why are American servicemen and women still shedding blood fighting the Iraqi civil war? Our military has done all that it can with professionalism, with courage, with honor.

Bill Richardson has a deep understanding of the Middle East. He has looked dictators in the eye and successfully negotiated the release of prisoners. He has served as an ambassador to many of the world's hot spots.

Our nation needs clear vision, diplomatic and executive experience, and a record of success. Bill Richardson has foreign policy experience and a track record as a forward-thinking governor.

These are dangerous times. I will vote for a proven leader with a record of success, one who is ready to hit the ground running. I will vote for Bill Richardson.
