An empty warehouse at Riverside Millwork in Penacook collapsed at around 10 this morning as the overnight snow turned into heavy rain. No one was injured. According to Roy Newbery, battalion chief for the Concord Fire Department, the collapse was caused by heavy snow loading on the roof.

Newbury said the wood trussed roof was covered by about 3 feet of snow, which was made heavier by this morning’s rain.

The weight of the snow split the roof in two, leaving the building wide open. One half collapsed and the other remained standing, but fire officials said the second half could easily collapse as well.

At least two other buildings in New Hampshire collapsed today. Safety crews responded to Kimball's Marina in Holderness and to a Waste Management facility in New Hampton.

A fire dispatcher said no injuries were reported at either one.

Meanwhile, road crews around the state were trying to keep up with clearing the slush from the storm and bracing for potential street flooding later.

At noontime, the Concord Police were reporting flooding on Loudon Road and D'Amante Drive, reducing traffic to one lane.

In Manchester, the police closed several streets because of flooding.

Fair skies are forecast for tomorrow. But more snow and rain is possible on Friday, mostly in northern areas.
