What a mess

Washington is broken. Eight years ago George W. Bush promised smaller government, fiscal discipline, deficit reduction and a return to states' rights. Yet, despite of having full Republican control over the Congress for most of his administration, he has failed to achieve any of these goals.

The federal government is the largest and most intrusive it has ever been. Deficits are at record levels, the economy is in shambles, unemployment and inflation are rising and states are being inundated with more regulations and unfunded mandates than ever.

Our economy has been virtually destroyed. Banks are failing and jobs are being shipping overseas. We have record high gas and home heating oil prices and our infrastructure is falling apart. Yet this administration's only response is to use taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street to the tune of $1 trillion. The last time we saw economic conditions like these was during the Great Depression.

We need new thinking, new policies and a new direction. I'm excited that this year I will have a chance to vote for something other than that status quo. I'm voting for Barack Obama and Jeanne Shaheen.

George W. Bush

What a sad sad sad terrible time for all of America. And these same misguided indulgent crooks want $700 billion dollars more to bail us out. Are we dumb, or are we dumb. Let the house of cards fall, let the fat cat politicians and CEO's all go to jail. They have destroyed America. Maybe our enemies have won.

Re: I am Anonymous

You said, "No difference, my friend JeanPaul."

Actually, there is. Every one of my posts uniquely identifies me as the author. By contrast, 'Anonymous' offers no similar way to distinguish your posts from anyone else's.

You have a bizarre understanding of what being a 'friend' means. Since you shield yourself from being identified even by an online nym (any post with 'Anonymous' could be yours or it could be someone else's), then you have chosen not to be anyone's friend; certainly not mine.

I am Anonymous....

and you uses a "Nom-De-Plume" as you so eloquently described it the other day. No difference, my friend JeanPaul.

Why waste the effort to point out obvious lies or ignorance to those that can't see the truth anyway? Go vote for Obamer. It's a free country. No law says you have to be informed. No law says I have to give my name. No law says you have to seek the truth. So go ahead and Vote Obamer and Shaheen (I still find it hard to belieeve this is not a joke lol Shaheen?? To save YOU money??? wow) but why waste effort trying to convince the unconvincable? It's illogical - much like liberalism.

What a Mess!

"Yet, despite of having full Republican control over the Congress for most of his administration, he has failed to achieve any of these goals."

"for MOST of his administration." I like that. How about the last 2 years since the "Democrat Revolution"? Are you happy with the way your party has run Congress? How they were able to get us out of Iraq? How about the stand they took just as the mortgage crisis was exploding? Or even the way they stood firm on FISA?

You can't walk lockstep with an administration and then blame that same administration for all the evil in the world.

Re: Thankfully

Anonymous must have posted his/her comment to the wrong letter, as Mr. Albert's letter is true and accurate in every respect.

If Anonymous actually believes that any part of the letter is not true and accurate, why didn't s/he point out the inaccuracies? Was it merely laziness? Or was it because s/he knows Mr. Albert was spot-on but just wishes he weren't?

Thankfully....

Thankfully its not against the law to write a letter to the editor that is simply not factual. Our jails would be packed full(er).

A legacy of failures.

When they write Bush's biography one day, it will be the story of one man's failure after another. A life of privilege did not lead to a life of success. The most unfortunate part is that he took the country with him.

Watching Bush 41 and Clinton together make them look more like father and son, the 41 and 43.

From George Vreeland Hill

Bush lied.
So did the entire Republican Party.
They all still lie.
And John McCain just laughs at it all.
The only people who count is them.
This economic mess started when the Republicans were in control of Congress.
They all just sat there and watched it all happen like Bush on 9/11.
The Republicans did nothing, and do nothing now except help themselves.
They are all as crooked as Bush.
