Political experience: Minnesota state senator from 2001 to 2007; member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's sixth congressional district from 2007 to present.
Brief bio: Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Bachmann attended Winona State University and later received her J.D. degree from Oral Roberts University and a LL.M. degree in tax law from William & Mary Law School. She worked as an attorney representing the IRS for five years before leaving to become a full-time mother. She and her husband, Marcus, have five children and have also provided care to 23 foster children.
