East Concord Garden Club members trim lilac bushes and pick up litter

After receiving instruction on pruning from Amy Papineau of the Cooperative Extension, members of the East Concord Garden Club trimmed lilac bushes planted years ago on Schoolhouse Hill on Mountain Road, just north of Exit 16 in Concord on April 26. Using city-supplied blue trash bags, they also picked up litter and cleared out competing plants and forest debris. Doris Glennon, president of the club, holds a sign explaining the project.
