Lesniewski Oratorical Contest names finalists

Nancy Gregory took first place and Hazel Johnstone was runner up in the John Stark Regional High School Ron Lesniewski Oratorical Contest held during EXPO on May 15. All year John Stark students work on public speaking skills through small and large group discussions, presentations, simulations and debates in their English and social studies classes. Gregory's speech was titled "Alan Turing, Casualty of War" and Johnstone's was "Charles Dickens: Reform by Fiction." The Lesniewski Oratorical Contest is named for a former John Stark teacher. Finalists in this year's contest were (front row, from left) Jessie Osgood and Madison Costa and (back row, from left) Ben Trumble, Gregory, Johnstone, Danielle Galli and Megan McNally.
