United Church of Penacook is getting a facelift. Previous re-painting efforts haven’t lasted since today’s paints don’t adhere well to wood siding that dates back to 1858, so the church is replacing the wood with fiber cement board siding. Homescapes of New England, Nottingham, will reside the building. There will also be more visible signage from NE-OP-Co Signs, Concord. The Rev. Jerry McCann, who came to United Church a year ago, said that city personnel have been extremely helpful and supportive in the church’s efforts, since the church’s new look will add to Penacook Village’s overall revitalization. The church has a food pantry and hosts Open Door Community Kitchen, which serves free hot meals every Monday and Wednesday. For more information, visit ucpnh.org or call 753-4072.
