Girls on the run!

Registration is open for Concord-area teams for the fall season of Girls on the Run. Girls in grades three through five are invited to register for a team at Bow Elementary, Christa McAuliffe (Concord), Abbot-Downing (Concord) or Penacook Elementary schools. Girls in grades six through eight may sign up for the team at Bow Memorial School. Girls on the Run is a 10-week after-school program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that integrates running. The fall season begins the week of Aug. 25 and will end with a 5K celebration event at Memorial Field in Concord on Nov. 16. Hospice training info

Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice will hold information sessions for people interested in becoming a hospice volunteer. Sessions will be held Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at Gilford Public Library, 31 Potter Hill Road; Sept. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Moultonborough Public Library, 4 Holland St., and Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, Wolfeboro branch office, Medical Arts Building, Huggins Hospital, 240 S. Art amid foliage

The annual fall foliage art studio tour will be held Oct. 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature 26 artists in 19 studios in eight towns. It offers fine art (oils, colored pencil, watercolor, pastels, drawing, encaustic, sculpture, photography) and fine craft (woodturning, fiber, pottery, glass) amid the foliage of the Monadnock region.
