If you need a fall fundraiser for your school, club or community group, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department has a 2014 calendar fundrasier. Sales benefit your group and support the Fish and Game Department’s work conserving wildlife and wild places. The theme of this year’s calendar is “Learn WILD” – connecting teachers, students and learners of all ages to the wild world. You can download a calendar sales kit at tinyurl.com/kfeenqo or call 271-6355 to request a group sales kit by mail or email.
Research has shown that strength-training exercise is an effective way to prevent and reverse osteoporosis. “Bone Builders” is an exercise program designed to provide participants with an opportunity to increase bone density, muscle strength and balance. Friends RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is looking for volunteers in the Concord area who are interested in becoming “Bone Builders” exercise leaders at the Centennial Senior Center and Suncook Senior Center. Leaders will conduct one-hour “Bone Builders” classes twice a week.
No experience is necessary because training will be provided. If you have an interest in helping senior citizens stay active, call Friends RSVP at 228-1193, ext. 238.
The Year Rounders are a group of seniors who make their lives more enjoyable through bowling. They bowl three strings of candlepin bowling every Thursday at Boutwells Bowling Center in Concord at 11:30 a.m. from Sept. 12 until early May. This is a fun league with no serious competition.
If interested, call Pat Duffy at 269-3348 or Jim Duchaney at 776-3424 by Aug. 23.
