Auditions for the Scholarship Ensemble Program at Concord Community Music School will be held through the end of September.
This program is for highly motivated high school students who would like an intensive, small-ensemble experience and who are willing to make a serious commitment to weekly rehearsals and frequent performances around the state.
Auditions will be held for the following ensembles of which four will be formed, pending interest and audition results: woodwind, vocal, jazz, string, folk, chamber and percussion. Ensembles are coached by faculty members Stefani Burk (woodwind), Rodger Ellsworth (string), Hannah Murray (voice), David Tonkin (jazz), David Surette (folk) and John Faggiano (percussion). Ensemble members learn first-hand the rigors and fine points of preparing for performance. Students who are selected will be on full scholarship through the generosity of area businesses, foundations and individuals. To arrange for an audition, call 228-1196.
Epsom Bible Church, 398 Black Hall Road, will hold a fall clothing swap Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. Donors may drop off clothing beginning at 8:30 am. All clothes (adult and children’s) need to be clean and in good repair, and separated by size and gender. No rips or stains. Clothes will be sorted and distributed to tables by the person dropping them off. Once clothes have been sorted and distributed, participants are free to begin gathering clothing in the sizes they need.
Any clothing left at the end of the swap will be delivered to a local charity drop off site. Volunteers for the clothing swap would be appreciated. You do not need to make a clothing donation in order to take clothing for you and your family.
Call Joanne Randall at 344-8843 for more information or if you are interested in volunteering.
