Super search

The Merrimack Valley and Andover School Boards are in the beginning phase of a search for a new superintendent of schools. Community meetings will be held in each town – Andover, Boscawen, Loudon, Penacook, Salisbury and Webster – to hear community members’ thoughts on the qualities and attributes of a school superintendent. The first meeting will be held Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook. Meetings for the remaining communities will be announced later.

Library fundraising

Fundraising events continue as the Gilmanton Year-Round Library board and friends work to keep the library open through the current fiscal year. Two area businesses offer opportunities to enjoy a meal while supporting the library. Patrick’s Pub and Eatery in Gilford invites library supporters to have lunch or dinner during the week of Sept. 8 and tell your server that you are there to support the library. A portion of your food purchase will go to support the library. The Gilmanton Winery will serve dinner Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. Reservations are necessary and the cost is $50 per person. Make your reservation with payment to Gilmanton Year-Round Library. For details, visit
