Concord High School Class of 1953 reunion a success

The Concord High School Class of 1953 celebrated its 60th year reunion on Aug. 10, 21 and 22 with a variety of activities in and around Concord. As chairwoman of the reunion arrangements, I was assisted by many in preparing our celebration.

Volunteers across the country contacted classmates to advertise the reunion and update contact information. Others accepted the chairmanship of events or contributed to our silent auction. All proceeds and donations benefitted our Concord High School scholarship fund.

The class of 1953 thanks the Concord School District for guides Lisa Lamb and Matt Cashman, who led the two school tours. Breakfast, light lunches and dining were enjoyed at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, Makris Seafood and Steak Restaurant, Barley House, Mt. Sunapee Adventure Park, Loudon Country Club and aboard the MV Kearsarge restaurant ship. We thank these establishments for their gracious hospitality.

For a number of years, this class donated generously to Concord High School’s needs and the last 10 years exclusively to student scholarships. Three $600 scholarships were awarded last June. In 2014, two scholarships of $1,000 each will be presented to deserving graduating seniors.

Seventy-nine classmates and guests attended one, several or all activities. Thank you for making our reunion a grand success.
