A place to call home

  • The Lakes Region Habitat for Humanity’s first handicapped-accessible house is being built for the Soboslai/Emerson family on Dearborn Street in Franklin. The family is Rob, RJ and Kelly Soboslai, and Kelly’s mother, Barbara Emerson. The family has been working with the Lakes Region Habitat for Humanity for four years to make their dream come true of owning a home that will meet their special needs. The Showboat of Talent, a fundraiser for the family, will be held Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sanbornton Congregational Church. Church and community members will perform, along with Jasper the Therapy Dog. There will be guitar players, pianists, soloists and choral groups. This event will be reminiscent of the old riverboat shows on the Showboats. Volunteers are always welcome to help with finishing the work on the house. Call the Lakes Region Habitat for Humanity at 279-4820 or email info@lrhabitat.org for more information. WANT TO SEE YOUR PHOTO ON THIS PAGE? Email it to <br/>communitynews@cmonitor.com.
