Events guide available

The October “Spooktacular” events guide and game card for Meredith, listing local events and a scarecrow contest, can be picked up at the following participating businesses: Moulton Farm, Meredith Library, Kara’s Café, Meredith Community Center, Cackleberries, Church Landing, DAK Financial Group, Forest View, Golden View, Hawkins Framing, Ben & Jerry’s and Dr. Robert Kozlow’s office.

Each of the businesses is offering one or more special events. The guide will also be available at the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce, Mame’s, Hart’s, the police department, the Center Harbor Town Hall and library and the Sandwich Town Hall and library.

Holiday assistance

The Salvation Army, 58 Clinton St., will take applications from residents of Concord, Penacook, Boscawen, Loudon and Bow for Christmas assistance today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Applicants must bring documentation of income, expenses, household members and photo ID. Hospice volunteers

Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice will hold volunteer training Thursday and Oct. 22, 24, 29 and Oct. 31. This five-session training gives the foundation of the hospice philosophy, as well as the overview of the agency’s program and the role that volunteers have.
