Hillsboro-Deering Middle School eighth graders join DECA
Hillsboro-Deering Middle School eighth grade students have joined Distributive Education Clubs of America, making them one of the first two groups of eighth graders in New Hampshire to join. Sixteen middle school students joined the high school chapter to attend the New Hampshire DECA Fall Leadership Conference on Oct. 22 at Southern New Hampshire University. Although DECA began this program to include eighth graders two years ago, New Hampshire DECA wanted to ensure that a structure was in place to involve eighth graders, provide them with the opportunity to compete against other middle schools, and encourage them to continue their membership in high school. High school DECA members will be organizing and planning a conference for the middle school students in May. Hillsboro-Deering Middle will compete against Fairgrounds Middle School from Nashua. Pictured are Hillsboro-Deering Middle School eighth grade DECA members (back row, from left) Nick Lester, Lydia Powell, Mariah Cuddy, Tia Smith, Alexandra Buciak, Heather Cavender and Nick Wheeler and (front row, from left) Madeline Parisi, Emily Wightman, Kaelyn Snair, Colby Wilkens, Allison Casparo, Tyler Markle, Jessica Peschel and Alan Clark. Absent from the photo are Kianna Carter and Mallory Fraser.
