Mr. and Mrs. Clough

Richard and Maxine Clough of Concord recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course Clubhouse, just steps away from their Concord home.

The celebration was hosted by the couple and their children, Vanessa and Todd Ulrich of Hollis, and Valerie and Edward Sawyer of Dover. More than 60 of the couple’s family and friends were in attendance, including the couple’s four grandchildren, Courtney Ulrich, Dana Ulrich, Griffin Sawyer and Theo Sawyer. Many members of the original wedding party and their spouses were able to attend.

Richard and Maxine met in 1960 while they were attending college. They were married on Aug. 10, 1963, at St. John’s Methodist Church in Jefferson.

Following their education and initial work experience, Richard opened his own business in 1975, the Richard H. Clough Company, a firm specializing in association management. Richard and Maxine worked there together for more than 25 years before the couple sold the business and retired in 2004.

The couple enjoys traveling and will soon take a trip to the national parks in the West, similar to a trip they took around the time of their 25th anniversary.
