EXETER – Patty Connolly insists the Hopkinton field hockey team isn’t doing it on purpose – the high-wire act, taking games to overtime, letting their picture-perfect season come within one shot of crumbling to pieces. Intentional or not, it’s working. The Hawks don’t know how to make things easier for themselves. But they also don’t know how to pay for their risky style.
