Bow’s Lindsey Nerbonne has been to national field hockey events in the past. But she never had as much fun, or success, as she did at the USA Field Hockey Young Women’s National Championship that was held from June 23-26 at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. “I think this year I had a lot more fun because I was used to that environment, so I was a little more confident,” said Nerbonne, who will be a junior at the University of New Hampshire this fall. “I knew what we were going to be doing and the format of it, so I wasn’t as nervous.” …

Youth softball The NH Lightning 16U Black softball team was runner-up last weekend at the annual ASA Summer Sizzler in Brattleboro, Vt. The Lightning went 3-0 in pool play, beating the VT Rockets, VT Thunder and Brattleboro Heat while scoring 27 runs and allowing only six runs behind outstanding pitching from Brianna Whitcomb and Sloane French.
