The Insiders: Check out the best student art not hanging from your Christmas tree

It’s a scientific fact that more student art hangs from Christmas trees than anywhere else on an annual basis (the science of that scientific fact has not been verified by scientists). But the Concord School District is about to take its annual stab at shattering that image when it opens its annual art show tonight at the Steeplegate Mall. The gallery is in the former Coach store and features more than 1,000 pieces of art from students in grades 1 through 12, and tonight’s opening reception runs from 5:30 to 7. There’s also student-made music (played live) and student-made cookies – both of which are pretty sweet – to help celebrate the festive opening. The show runs until April 15 and will be open during mall hours, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

In other cool school news, Bishop Brady is hosting its second annual Brady Winter Review tonight from 5:30 to 7:30. It’s an open house event featuring a dinner of soup, breads and desserts from local restaurants and community members. RSVP is required, so visit to do so or call 224-7419.
