The Insiders: Eat like it’s 1984 (and dress like it if you want to) at Hermanos’s birthday bash
Everything was so much more affordable in 1984. Gas, milk, iPhones . . . you name it. Well, prepare to save some coin and celebrate at the same time today, as Hermanos Cocina Mexicana celebrates its 30th birthday with a day long bash.
Our attempts to create a way-back machine have thus far failed, and we’ve generally looked foolish for rocking our mullets and acid-wash jeans because of it. But Hermanos has succeeded where we’ve failed, offering several throwback dishes during the celebration at their original 1984 prices. But that’s only the beginning.
The celebration runs from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and features live entertainment, new specials, trivia, liquor and beer promotions and a raffle. The grand prize is no joke, either – 30 $30 gift certificates to Hermanos. We assume you see the symmetry and significance there. (Hint: 30!)
We’d recommend stopping by. We’d also recommend trimming the mullet before you do.

Also today, there will be an opening reception for the Pastel Society of New Hampshire’s fine art pastel exhibit at the Mill Brook Gallery from 2 to 4 p.m. It is the group’s ninth annual show, featuring work from 49 artists. Stop by for a peek during the reception, or swing by Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery will run until May 31.
