Carry for a Cure on Saturday

CONSTANTINE'S Carry for a Cure Flag Football Tournament, a fundraiser named for a Hillsboro boy with spinal muscular atrophy, will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fuller School field in Keene.

Teams of four in two age divisions, 13-17 ($10 per player) and 18 and older ($13), will compete, with proceeds benefiting the fight against the No. 1 genetic cause of death in children younger than 2.

Constantine Salce, 4, suffers from the illness, and his parents, Luciante and Dominic Salce, have worked to raise awareness of the disease's devastating effect on voluntary muscle movement.

The event, sponsored by Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, has raised $900 to date, and organizers hope to reach $5,000.
