Last week, Gov. Hassan issued a proclamation marking April 7-13 as Barbershop Harmony Week in New Hampshire. On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Representatives from five New Hampshire barbershop chambers serenaded the Governor and the Executive Council before their meeting. The chambers included the Concord Coachmen, the North County Chordsmen, the Cheshiremen from Keene, the Lakes Region Chordsmen, and the Granite Statesmen from Nashua. They opened with a small group singing, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” and then the entire group sang, “My Wild Irish Rose,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and “Keep the Whole World Singing,” which is the Barbershop Harmony Society’s official song.
