The Insiders: The British aren’t coming to Concord, but Paul Revere’s wife is
Concord Insider's Ben Conant and Keith Testa (SAMANTHA GORESH / Monitor staff)
Thanks to the wonders of television advertising, we’re now able to see how much simpler things would have been for Paul Revere had he owned a cell phone. Well, thanks to the wonders of time travel and advanced cryogenics, we’re going to be able to talk to his wife, Rachel Revere, too, when she visits the Pierce Manse tonight at 7.
What’s that you say? It’s Joan Gatturna, living history performer, who will be making the appearance? Right. And I suppose you expect us to believe that guy we saw singing “Jailhouse Rock” on a street corner in Manchester last weekend wasn’t Elvis.
Think of all the things you’ve always wanted to ask Rachel Revere: How terrifying was it to arrange the escape of your family from occupied Boston? How challenging was it to smuggle money to the Sons of Liberty? How long did Paul have to pose for that picture on the Sam Adams bottle?
Learn the answers to at least some of these questions tonight with “The Other Side of the
Midnight Ride: A Visit with Rachel Revere,” a free event from the perspective of a woman
who lived through it all. The presentation is part of the Pierce Brigade Lecture Series. For more information, visit piercemanse.org and click on “Events.”

If stuff from this millenium
is more your speed, the NBA playoffs are in full swing. And what’s better than the NBA playoffs? Rooting for Concord’s own Red Mamba in the NBA playoffs. Matt Bonner’s San
Antonio Spurs take on the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of their first round series tonight at 9:30. If you can’t score an invite to watch at the Bonner house, find the game on TNT or head to a local haunt to cheer with fellow honorary gingers. We’re betting he scores more points in the series than Kobe Bryant!
