The Insiders: Concord’s hills are soon to be alive with the sound of you singing
How many times have you found yourself sitting in your lederhosen with nowhere to go on a Sunday afternoon? That’s what we thought. Well, today is your day, because Red River Theatres is hosting a Sound of Music singalong at 4 p.m. Costumes are encouraged, but don’t let that change your mind about wearing your lederhosen. Wait, that is part of the costume? Right. We knew that.
It might be wise to brush up on the fact that a doe, a deer and a female deer are all the same thing, because there will also be trivia. Prizes will be given for the best costume, which in our experience should be in some way connected to the movie.
Want more? According to Red River, the afternoon will include “additional surprises and added revelry.” Trust us, nothing bad has ever come of added revelry.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the theater or by visiting redrivertheatres.org/now-showing/special-events.

It looks like we missed an opportunity to grant ambassador-hood to people in Concord. Which is too bad, because being able to refer to yourself as an ambassador commands instant respect, and also puts you one step closer to diplomatic immunity, which is invaluable if you ever happen to find yourself the subject of an investigation on a television cop show. New Hampshire Granite State Ambassadors are seeking participants to share the greatness of the state with visitors and are hosting a series of certification training classes, including one at Red River Theatres tomorrow and Tuesday. Sign-ups for that have already expired – that’s our bad – but if you are so moved to get involved, more training is being held in Gilford on May 28 and 29 and in Dover on June 3 and 4.
