Gary “Crabby” LaCroix sunbathes on Sewalls Fall Road in Concord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. LaCroix, a retired construction worker originally from Penacook, sits in the same spot every afternoon before going for a walk along the nearby train tracks and fishing in the Merrimack River. LaCroix watches cars go by and says he likes seeing friends and strangers wave to him as they drive by his spot.

Legacy Comments2

About a hundred years ago I worked with Gary at the State Hospital. We both left that job and from time to time over the years I would run into him. He worked hard as a construction laborer and would always tell me how much he enjoyed the work. Now retired because of the abuse his body took from the work he loved, he comes up to our end of town to enjoy the river and the walking trails. You can see Gary fishing, walking and picking up trash (and yes tanning) at Sewalls Falls almost every day. It would be nice to have more of his ‘kind’ here in Concord. Remember that old adage; don’t judge a book by its cover - Allan Herschlag

That's my dad your talking about, so please don't call him a weirdo. He enjoys to fish and tan. If he enjoys it, then let him do it.
