The Insiders: Alice Cooper isn’t on the ‘Les Mis’ soundtrack, is he?
Our sources tell us that school’s out for summer, and Alice Cooper tells us it may be out forever. In that case, we recommend making an appearance at the Capitol Center for the Arts tonight to catch a performance of Les Miserables: School Edition at 7. If Cooper is telling the truth – and we’ve never known him to mislead us – it may be your final chance for student-based fun. So pack a sandwich and a juice box in your ThunderCats lunchbox and head on out to the street to wait for the bus!
Actually, don’t do that. You’ll have to coordinate your own transportation, but it’ll be well worth it. The school edition of the classic show is trimmed to about 2½ hours and is appropriate for ages 13 and up. It will also be performed by students between the ages of 7 and 19 from RB Stage Company, the junior division of the Concord-based theater group, RB Productions.
Tickets are $10 individual, or $8.25 Series Price. There will also be showings Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. For more information, visit ccanh.com or call 225-1111.

Come with us as we casually segue from musical theater to saxophone sounds and make a pit stop at the Purple Pit, where Benny Sharoni, an Israeli-born saxophonist, will play tonight at 9. Tickets are $20. For more information, visit thepurplepit.com or call 832-8876.

If you’d rather freak yourself the heck out, catch the 10 p.m. showing of Maniac at Red River Theatres as part of the Xtreme Friday Night movie series. It has all the makings of a romantic classic, like a disturbed loner on a killing spree struggling with murderous tendencies. Oh, and he meets a girl. Tickets are $9 and can be purchased by visiting redrivertheatres.org and selecting “Special Events” under the Films/Events heading.
