Seeking the next N.H. poet laureate

The Poetry Society of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the New Hampshire Writers’ Project are collaborating in the search for the state’s next poet laureate. The next man or woman named to the job will serve a five-year term starting in January.

Nominees for the post must be New Hampshire residents and have published a full-length poetry collection. They can be nominated by third parties or themselves, but they must also include a statement of purpose outlining what they hope to do in the office.

For an application and information, go topoetrysocietyofnewhampshire.org/poetlaureate.html.

You can also email info@poetrysocietyofnewhampshire.org. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 13.

Former New Hampshire poets laureates include Walter Butts, Patricia Fargnoli, Marie Harris, Donald Hall, Cynthia Huntington, Jane Kenyon and Maxine Kumin.
