The Insiders: Ducks, Russian singers, an English country dance – then football!
Wait a moment before you chuck out this column, readers – this is one for the annals of history! Fall is coming in hot (okay, super cold) to Concord, and with it, a fresh crop of fun community events to check out! Today, Weekend on the Water continues with a Concord Crew Regatta on the Merrimack from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Head to Kiwanis Riverfront Park to check that out (and to get in on the sweet food truck action!). At 1 p.m., all eyes will be on the Rubber Duck Race, presumably watching breathlessly to see whether the Insiders’ duck is first across the finish line. For information, check out facebook.com/

The other hot events in town today have an international flair. The Capital Center for the Arts will host a webcast of two of Russia’s greatest singers performing live at Red Square in Moscow (hey, maybe the POTUS will be there!). The show, featuring Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $12 for students. For information, visit ccanh.com.

Presidential Oaks (200 Pleasant St.) hosts an English country dance tonight at 5:30. Admission is $8. For information, call 934-2543.

Finally, we know all of you are going to be watching the New England Patriots’ season opener versus the Buffalo Bills (1 p.m., CBS). Grab your favorite game snacks – no blue Bubblicious, please – and watch as C.J. Spiller scores just enough fantasy points for one lucky Insider in a losing effort.
