Now’s the time to plant trees, shrubs

Early fall is the optimum period to plant most shrubs and trees, when conditions promote root growth in advance of next year’s growing season. Small, young trees are easier to manipulate than larger ones. The will suffer less transplant stress and will catch up in size within a few short years. They are also cheaper. Make sure woody plants get the space they will need and avoid overcrowding.
