Moose hunters have 42 percent success rate in N.H.

New Hampshire’s Fish and Game Department said 119 moose have been taken in this year’s moose hunt so far.

That means 42 percent of 281 hunters holding moose permits succeeded by the midway point in the state’s moose hunt.

Last year, about 50 percent of hunters had gotten their moose by this time.

New Hampshire’s nine-day moose hunt continues through Sunday. This year, more than 13,000 people entered the moose hunt lottery for a chance to win a permit for the state’s moose hunt.
