The Insiders: Books – check ‘em out. Actually, just buy them.
Remember books? They were those things made of pages and words and stuff that you used to read before the invention of smartphones and streaming video and the wheel (Note: fact checking not complete on final claim). Well, some of us are still into books, and we think you should be, too. If you’re looking to restart or build on your collection, today’s the day to do it at the Penacook branch of the Concord Public Library.
The library at 3 Merrimack St. will be holding the Friends of the Penacook Library annual book sale to benefit programs at the library from 9 a.m. to noon, offering gently used – or as our buddy, Chuck, the used furniture guru likes to say, previously enjoyed – tomes at steep discounts. Hardcover sell for $1, with paperbacks going for .50 cents each or three for $1. The library promises to have “two full rooms of books” for sale, though the price on a full room of books isn’t entirely clear.
If you’re an early riser, we don’t understand you. But we will tell you this – today at 9 a.m. is the day for the Wicked FIT run at Rollins Park, Families in Transition’s annual family-friendly 5K run/walk. If you’re reading after 9 a.m., just do 430 laps in your living room – voila, the 5K home version.
