The Insiders: Dinner and a walk by moonlight, sounds like a perfect night

It’s a beautiful day for a walk. At least that’s what the weather report said yesterday.

And it might just be a beautiful night for a walk as well. You know, with that whole full moon thing going on right now. So if you’re in the mood for a walk, love cookies and hot chocolate, and want to see the full moon, you might just want to wander up to Carter Hill Orchard.

The moonlit adventure begins at 6 tonight and is being put on by Five Rivers Conservation Trust, the Concord Conservation Commission and the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center. It will start with a presentation by the planetarium staff. You will even be able to use telescopes to observe the full moon. Hey, maybe you will be able to finally see whether it’s really made out of cheese.

There will be a hike through the woods and fields of Carter Hill Orchard, so don’t forget to bring a head lamp or flashlight and dress warm. You never know how long the moon will last for light and, to be clear, it doesn’t provide any warmth.

And to cap off the night, there will be cookies and hot chocolate. How can you go wrong?

If you’re looking for that sense of community, head on down to the Grace Episcopal church at 30 Eastman St. for the January Community Supper at 5 p.m. This month’s supper features chicken potpie, cranberry sauce, bean salad and dessert. But the dessert is top secret. Only those who go will know what it is.

There is no charge for the dinner, but donations are welcomed and will help support the church’s Take-A-Tote Ministry, which helps feed Concord’s hungry school children.
