The Insiders: There’s no beating this Egg event at Gibson’s
Eggs have had a pretty topsy-turvy ride over the years.. First they were healthy, then they weren’t healthy, now they’re healthy again. For what it’s worth, we’re fans here at the Insider – not enough to recommend going all Rocky Balboa and downing a glass of raw ones, but we’re down for a good omelet whenever.
Anyway, there’s no better way to elevate the egg to superstar status than by naming a major character in a book after one, and that’s what youth fiction writer Geoff Rodkey did. Rodkey will be at Gibson’s Bookstore this afternoon at 4 to share the final installment in his Chronicles of Egg trilogy. Hear all about Egg and his friends as they try to take down “ruthless slave trader” Roger Pembroke (not named after our neighboring town . . . as far as we know).
Rodkey has a diverse writing background that includes work on “Beavis and Butthead” and “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego,” one of which is probably considered more educationally enriching than the other (we’ll let you make that call). If you can’t make the event at Gibson’s, but would like a copy of the book put aside to be signed for you, call 224-0562 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
