The Insiders: You’re invited to Batman’s birthday party at Red River Theatres
Batman is like James Bond in that he’s not actually a thing (sorry, spoiler alert). But also in the fact that in both instances, different generations identify with different leading men. When it comes to the Caped Crusader, viewers of a certain age – a group the Insider staff may or may not be willing to admit its part of – associate the role with Michael Keaton. Well, as the Batman comic character celebrates its 75th anniversary, Tim Burton’s Batman – featuring Keaton – somehow turns 25.
And tonight Red River Theatres is teaming with Double Midnight Comics to screen that film, which also features Jack Nicholson in a perfectly maniacal portrayal of the Joker, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The film will start at 7, but stop down early for chances to win prizes. There will be trivia and costume contests and other giveaways from Double Midnight Comics (if you don’t have an elaborate costume, just say you’re going as Bruce Wayne). Want to forever remember the (most recent) night that you dressed up like Batman? There will also be a photo booth in the lobby. Visit redrivertheatres.org for more.
