Clay workshops to be held at Sharon Arts

Clay workshops come
in all shapes, sizes

The Sharon Arts Center will feature a series of one- and two-day clay workshops during its spring programming – in February, March and May.

The first one will be held on Saturday with instructor Maureen Mills, one of 2012’s New Hampshire Council on the Arts Fellows. Mills is the Ceramics Department chairwoman at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester. For 25 years she has worked with her husband, Steve Zoldak, at their pottery studio in Portsmouth creating slip decorated stoneware.

Teaching the workshops will be New Hampshire Institute of Art faculty member Maureen Mills; Sarah Heimann, a New Hampshire-based potter who focuses on texture and form; and Monadnock-based sculptural ceramicist Liz Fletcher.

The workshops will span techniques in surface design and sculpture, providing opportunities for clay students to broaden their experience with various techniques and the creative planning of pieces.
