The Insiders: Get your busk on at Tandy’s tonight
When busking first came to Concord, we thought it might be the latest fitness craze sweeping the nation. But during a Google search for busking outfits, we discovered that it was instead a form of street performance. How about that? Well, a group of local musicians is taking busking to the next level to raise money for good causes, and tonight you can pitch in.
Tandy’s Top Shelf in Eagle Square will host “Busking for Gianna,” a fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. to raise money for a headstone marker for Gianna Mitchell, an infant who died last summer from sudden infant death syndrome. The event is part of the developing Busking for a Cause series.
Performers will play in a busking style, behind an empty guitar case to be filled with donations from patrons. Raffles are also likely, though you won’t be able to win the guitar case full of money.
And there’s plenty of local talent appearing tonight, including Concord’s own Rachel Vogelzang, as well as punk-rock artist Jonee Earthquake, A.J. Dukette, Craig Greenman, Ross Boyd, Dillan Welch and Busking for a Cause co-founders Darrel Cook and Blake Patria.

Today is also the final performance of The Nutcracker: Act II at St. Paul’s School. It’s free, and the show begins at 2 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes before showtime.
