The Insiders: Play with trucks or jam to a big band
For whatever the reason, kids just love construction equipment. Maybe it’s the raw power, the ability to use sheer force to move mountains, the final step in man’s dominance over nature. Or maybe they just like bright-yellow loud stuff! Either way, you can indulge your child’s construction vehicle craving at the Concord Public Library today during Construction Vehicle Fun. Your kid can build their own truck and then play games with it! The free event takes place at 2:30 p.m. For more information, visit concordpublic library.net or call 225-8670.

Elsewhere, it’s (Glenn) Miller time tonight as the Freese Brothers Big Band performs for free at Presidential Oaks. Come down and shake those hips like they’ve just been replaced! For more information, call 225-6644. Poor Howard performs “songs from mother’s knee and other low joints” at Hermano’s at 6:30. For more information, visit poorhowardstith.com.

Finally, some corrections to mistakes we made in last week’s columns. First of all, those new streetlights on Main Street were a preview of the lights proposed as part of the Main Street redesign; they didn’t “spring up organically from the sidewalks,” as we reported last week. Second, we did not mean to sign off last week’s columns as “Carlos Danger”; we must have been logged into the wrong account on our computers (and we really apologize for what happened with the headshots). Lastly, we incorrectly reported that we were cursed by an ancient Egyptian mummy when we disturbed its sarcophagus last week; of course, curses aren’t real and oh my gosh it burns our bodies are teeming with scarabs OH NO BRENDAN FRASER PLEASE HELP US!
