The Insiders: It’s no mystery what you should be doing today

We spent most of the weekend attempting to solve the mystery of the lost pizza, only to remember we actually ate it all. Needless to say, it wasn’t the kind of whodunit ending we were hoping for. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy one, as Red River Theatres hosts the next installment in its I Love a Mystery film series today at 4 p.m.

Today’s selection is Girl Missing, which paved the way for Girl, Interrupted in the pantheon of movies with two-word sentence fragment titles in which the first word is ‘girl.’ Girl Missing , made in 1933, follows a pair of friends stranded in Palm Beach who get involved in a homicide and kidnapping to try to gain a large reward and a train ride back to New York. While we would have gone with the much safer option and just hitchhiked with complete strangers, the girls’ decision leads to “an intricate plot and a generous dollop of pre-code sexiness,” according to the Red River website.

Tickets for the film are $7 each. There is also complimentary coffee or tea and a snack.

Also today, the Unitarian Universalist Church is holding its monthly Dances of Universal Peace, led by Sara-Elizabeth Whitcomb and Jenaabi Finley and focusing on “breath, listening, feeling, seeing and silence,” according to the church’s release. The event begins at 7 p.m.
