The Insiders: Race for downtown to hear some cool music today and tomorrow
Well, it’s Sunday the 13th, and we all know what that means, don’t we? Actually, it doesn’t really mean anything. But today is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Camping World RV Sales 301 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which means there are a few things you don’t want to do in Concord this afternoon. Like drive on the highway. Seriously, it’s going to look like downtown New York City out there later this afternoon. Well, minus the skyscrapers and street performers and stuff. But there’ll be some Fifth Avenue-sized traffic jams out there.
Lucky for you, you don’t have to deal with any of that if you don’t want to. You can stop down at Hermanos this evening to hear some live music while you chow dinner, thanks to a live performance from State Street Combo at 6:30. You could also hide out in Red River Theatres – where no race car sounds will be heard, unless you’re watching a race car movie – and catch a flick (visit redrivertheatres.org for a complete list of your options).
State Street Combo will also be playing at the same time tomorrow evening, if you can’t make tonight’s show or just want an encore. Also tomorrow, the Whit Symmes Trio will be performing at the Concord Public Library at 7 p.m. The show is slated for outside, but will be moved inside if inclement weather decides to make an appearance.
