The Insiders: Brews and bites are at boozy benefit
Concord Insider's Ben Conant and Keith Testa (SAMANTHA GORESH / Monitor staff)
It’s a jam-packed Friday night in Concord, so let’s get right to it. The annual In Good Spirits YMCA fundraiser takes place tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Capitol Center for the Arts. We always enjoy this event, and this year looks like it will be no exception. You can sample beer and wine (get your hands on a Wells Banana Bread brew for an exotic change of pace), bid in both a silent and live auction and take home a souvenir pint glass.
Of course, the aspect that keeps us coming back year after year is the Top Chef cookoff. This year, local chefs will compete to create the best bite-size sandwich. Easier said than done, in our case – have you seen our jaws? We’re gonna need a bigger bite!
Tickets cost $35 and can be obtained by visiting
concordymca.org or calling
228-9622, ext. 127.
Once In Good Spirits starts winding down, head over to the 7 p.m. art opening at Wonder Made. Andre Bertalino’s spraypainted takes on urban decay have graced the Insider’s pages in the past, but here’s your chance to see them in person, and even take one home! Plus, the first 25 people in the door get a free signed print.
Wonder Made is located at 19 Warren St.
For the kiddos, check out the flashlight Easter egg hunt at White Park. Fifth- through eighth-graders should meet at the basketball court at 8 p.m. with their best gatherin’ baskets and brightest flashlights. It’s sure to be a hoot of a hunt! If you can’t make that, there are egg hunts tomorrow morning as well. Meet at Keach, White or Rolfe parks tomorrow at 10:20 a.m., or go the governor’s egg hunt at the Bridges House (21 Mountain Road) at 11 a.m. Better yet, hit them all and become a Cadbury-crazed maniac!
